Musical flower at HC Andersen Children's and Youth Hospital

With the new musical flower Harmony Bells, children, young people and their families are welcomed to HC Andersen Children and Youth Hospital. The colorful and melodic instruments create a space filled with colors and sounds, which both help to remove focus from illness and give children the opportunity to express themselves through music. The three musical instruments, Harmony Bells, Akadinda and Babel Drum Small, offer a unique musical game where both young and old can participate and find joy in creating sound.

"Immediately after the three musical flowers were installed, pleasant crisp notes sounded. The placement is perfect – the beautiful colorful bouquet can be seen right when you arrive at entrance 60 here at HC Andersen Children's and Youth Hospital,"

Mette Sorang, Coordinator for Welfare.

Removes focus from illness

Leading chief physician Arne Høst says: "We know that children who have good experiences when they are in a hospital experience the hospital stay and examinations much milder, and they do not have any after-effects after hospitalization when they have good experiences."

“Music brings joy. Even when children are very young, they move along when they hear music, and here the children have been very excited and have wanted to get out and move. At the same time, music can help to calm and remove focus from the illness, which otherwise takes up a lot of space for them”, says Dorthe Hvidtfeldt, hospital educator at HC Andersen Children and Youth
