Music and outdoor life at Development Center Skansebakken

Skansebakken is a residential facility for adults with severe physical and mental disabilities, including the blind, deaf and wheelchair users. The center uses music and outdoor areas in its daily educational efforts, as these activities bring great joy and benefit to the residents. Percussion Play's outdoor musical instruments are a central part of this, as they give residents the opportunity to play music and experience the joy and peace that music can bring. The instruments, which also create vibrations when touched, provide a unique sensory experience, especially for the blind residents, who achieve a sense of well-being and peace. Musical play is available at hand and creates both physical and emotional interaction.

"Where we experience that it can give a lot is when we sit out here - that you can help play the instruments."

Hanne Hansen, Pedagogue, Skansebakken

Outdoor music promotes physical and mental needs

At the Skansebakken Development Center, musical instruments are not only a source of entertainment, but also an educational resource. The instruments attract residents with different physical and mental needs and promote social interactions. For the blind residents, the tactile elements and vibrations provide a strong sensory experience that contributes to calmness. and emotional well-being. Residents engage in musical co-creation, thereby strengthening both their physical and social abilities.
